Look no further because we have GORGEOUS FREE digital papers you’ll want to download immediately for use! We’re starting out with FREE Christmas digital papers but we’ll be adding to this over the next few months!
What IS digital paper?
Digital paper is created in a graphic design program using bright background colors and repeating pattern graphics. The paper is sized in either 12 x 12 in (for traditional scrapbooking) or 8.5 x 11 in to be printed at home for physical projects. This digital paper can then be used in a variety of digital or physical crafting projects.
What can I use digital paper for?
Digital paper can be used to beautify many digital and physical projects such as a memory keeping scrapbook, a digital scrapbook, digital/physical cards or messages, gift tags, wrapping paper, background wallpaper for your phone/tablet/computer, accents for a digital planner and (for our specific purposes) physical planner decorating.
How can I use digital paper in my planner?
Our readers will be most interested in how they can use FREE digital paper for their planners and we have some ideas for you! Keep in mind our paper is sized at 8.5 x 11 US letter so that you can print at home with no special resizing procedure. Here is just a short list of ideas you can try…
- Print our digital paper out on heavy glossy cardstock and make a planner cover. Add interest by using contrasting papers for the inside of the cover. We have a full tutorial available on How To Make Planner Covers or you can watch a short video overview below:
- Print our digital paper out on glossy sticker paper and use a box punch to create decorative “box” planner stickers.
- Print our digital paper out on glossy sticker paper and use a straight line cutting board to create custom sized washi tape or decorative margin stickers.
- Print out our digital paper on heavy cardstock (120 lb) and use a tab punch to create tabbed planner dividers, pocket dividers and “today” planner page markers.
What type of paper should be used to print digital paper?
This highly depends on the end use for the digital paper but you will want to use paper that is heavier than standard printer paper. I highly recommend using light to heavy cardstock for most crafting applications (sticker paper if you’re using this digital paper in your planner). The reason being is that digital paper puts down a fair amount of ink (especially when the background color isn’t white). This amount of ink can cause plain paper to curl and warp which isn’t visually desirable for many applications.
Do I need a special printer or print settings to print this free digital paper?
No, you don’t need a special printer but you should adjust your print settings to “high quality” so that the paper moves slowly through the printer. This will eliminate lines and gaps during printing and give you a high quality printout. If you are using glossy cardstock or sticker paper then you’ll want to also select something like “glossy photo paper” for the paper type in addition to selecting “high quality”.
If you don’t have a printer at home you can send your files to places like Kinko’s or Office Depot for color printing.
