It gives a nice professional finish and makes this homemade Easter craft look professionally made.

Materials:

• Bright White Premium Heavy Cardstock (we used 110 lb)
• Cricut cutting machine (optional)
• Small Halloween Candy or Treats
• Halloween Glitter Confetti (optional)
• Straight Line Paper Cutter or Scissors
• High Temp Hot Glue Gun
• Craft Clips
• FREE PRINTABLE Halloween Candy Corn Graphics (download at end of tutorial)

How to Make a DIY Halloween Gift Step by Step

Below is a short video on how you can put this homemade Halloween gift together step by step (written directions are below the video). I love how it turned out! It’s perfect for gifting to friends, classmates, studens or teachers. It could also be a cute Halloween party favor for almost any age.

STEP ONE- Print our Candy Corn Graphics & Trim to Size

Print out our cute, candy corn graphics onto Bright White Premium Heavy Cardstock (we used 110 lb weight cardstock). You can find our free download at the end of this tutorial. Plain printer paper won’t work for this party favor because it just won’t hold the candy corn shape- the whole thing will fall apart. You can use a local print shop if you don’t have a printer at home for a small additional cost.

There is also the option of using our cut files to do a “print and cut” in Cricut Design Space. It’s pretty easy to cut them quickly with a Straight Line Paper Cutter. If you don’t have either of these you can use plain ole scissors.

STEP TWO-Roll The Cardstock & Glue

Pre-roll the cardstock in your hand to give it the round shape. This will make it easier to hot glue. When you have the correct shape and the color layers of candy corn are aligned along the seam, add a Craft Clip to each end of the tube to hold everything in place while you glue. Removing one Craft Clip at a time, apply some high temp hot glue to the seam area. Hold the area closed until the hot glue cools completely.

Note: Use a High Temp Hot Glue Gun only! Low temp heat guns will not work! The seams will come lose because the hot glue cools too quickly & doesn’t bond with the paper!

STEP THREE- Pinch the Bottom of Face & Glue

Center the candy corn face on the tube and pinch the area below the face to make a bottom closure. Glue this area together with a bead of hot glue. Hold the area closed until the hot glue cools completely.

STEP FOUR- Add Candy, Glitter or Favors

With the bottom sealed we can add small Halloween candy (like candy corn or bite sized candy), small party favors and/or Halloween Themed Glitter Confetti.

STEP FIVE- Seal the Top Closed

When all the goodies are inside, pinch the top of the tube in the opposite direction of the bottom. Add a bead of hot glue to the top and hold it closed until cool. Shake the container around and make sure all the seams are well sealed. Don’t forget to grab your FREE printable templates and Cricut cut files below before you leave today.
