Craft Room Ideas & Design Inspiration
Most craft rooms utilize a simple design that’s easy to duplicate in your own project space. It involves a centrally located work surface (with tons of storage space underneath) surrounded by tons of crafting storage around the outside of the room. I have this design in my crafting space & it works great for me. Here are some craft room designs you can play around with.
Arts and Craft Storage Ideas- Furniture
The good news is that craft room furniture is pretty darn inexpensive. You can add to your craft space slowly over time (or ask for storage pieces as birthday or Christmas gifts). Below is my favorite craft storage cabinet trio to start out with. While these come with a few color options I find white is best because it makes a room look lighter/brighter & bigger. White goes with pretty much any color scheme (just in case you change your mind down the road)!
SHOP THIS LOOK: SIDE BY SIDE CABINET | 7 DRAWER CABINET | 5 DRAWER CABINET
My first craft room purchase was the SIDE BY SIDE CABINET. I loved the flexibility that the castor wheels provided (I reconfigure & re-arrange my craft room often). I later purchase two of the 7 DRAWER CABINETS and placed a work surface on top (which I highly recommend).
SHOP THIS LOOK: WALL MOUNT PEG BOARD + STORAGE
SHOP THIS LOOK: SWIVEL CRAFT TOWER
This Fully Rotating Craft Tower looks great and has lots of storage space for nearly every crafty type. I love the built in beg board and cork board and I can see even more storage being added with a few wire storage baskets being mounted to the blank lower side. This craft storage piece is highly rated and you can watch a video of it in action HERE.
SHOP THIS LOOK: CRAFT TABLE ISLAND | LARGER ISLAND
Most craft rooms have a large center island workspace. It’s the multipurpose hub of your entire craft room. The best part is all the double duty storage space for fabric, storage bins and the trusty craft caddy. They come in different shapes and different sizes but these two are far and away my favorite.
SHOP THIS LOOK: HIDDEN CRAFT STORAGE ARMOIRE
This HIDDEN CRAFT STORAGE ARMOIRE is a must have for tucking away all your crafty bits. With four totally adjustable shelves and many cubic feet of storage space you’ll be able to store large items like fabric bolts, cutting machines, sewing machines and unsightly items. Don’t forget to grab some storage baskets and make use of the top of the cabinet too!
SHOP THIS LOOK: FOLD AND STORE CRAFT TABLE
What this FOLD AND STORE CRAFT TABLE lacks in storage space it will make up for in flexibility/portability. The work surface pops open to be a whopping 60″ x 36″ when fully deployed. When not in use it folds away compactly. This height adjustable table is fantastic for quilters, sewers and large craft projects. It’s an easy way to get a huge work surface rolled out in a jiffy.
Arts and Craft Storage Ideas & Inspiration
Okay let’s look at some TOTALLY inspired crafting spaces so you can see ALL the possibilities for your own space. Remember to think about some of the underutilized areas- like wall storage and the back of door storage. We have a storage ideas for those areas too!
As you’re perusing all these craft organization ideas and inspiration check out all the foundational items (larger furniture pieces) these ride or die crafters are using in their spaces. Take note if there is something that might work in your space.
Think about what you NEED to find solutions for…fabric? Sewing machine? Scrapbook paper? All of the above? What does your dream crafting space look like? What colors speak to you? How much space do you have available to utilize (in square footage terms).
