Halloween Party Food on a Budget: Ding Dong Bat Treats
Servings: Makes 10 Bat Treats
Prep: 5 minutes
Assembly Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Ding Dong Bat Ingredients:
1 box of Hostess Ding Dongs (10 count)
Sharp Knife
First we’ll unwrap all the ding dongs from the box and set them aside. Next, twist Oreos in half to open them up. Scrape off all of the frosting filling (I can’t WAIT to eat all that later…). Using a sharp knife you’ll want to carefully saw each cookie in half.
Using a sharp knife cut a small slit into the side of the Ding Dong. Slowly, insert one half of the Oreo cookie into the side of the Ding Dong. Repeat for the other side and you have bat wings!
Repeat this process for the remaining Ding Dongs. Next we’ll add the candy sprinkle eyeballs for a spooky vibe!
Using the cookie icing, add two small dots where the eyes will go. Affix a candy sprinkle eyeball to the small dots (this will keep the eyeballs stuck to the Ding Dongs).
Repeat this process for all of the Ding Dongs until you have an entire gaggle of googley eyed bats!
Using the cookie icing, pipe fangs onto each Ding Dong Bat (two triangles side by side). You don’t have to make all of your bats the same. You can make all sorts of faces or expressions to keep things spoooky!
These Ding Dong bats are the PERFECT make ahead Halloween treat because you can make these a day or two in advance of your Halloween party or event and store them in an airtight container for up to five days!
