Honeyduke’s Chocolate Frogs are a popular magical confectionery in the Harry Potter movie series. They are, quite literally, frogs made out of chocolate, but with a magical twist of course.

These aren’t your typical chocolate treats; they come to life and can jump around when the box is opened, just like real frogs. They are sold in the magical world and can be found in places like the Hogwarts Express sweets trolley or at Honeyduke’s Sweetshop in Hogsmeade.

Each Chocolate Frog also comes with a collectible card that features a famous witch or wizard from the magical world. These cards, much like the frogs themselves, have a touch of magic to them: the figures on the cards are animated and move.

Harry gets his first Chocolate Frog on the Hogwarts Express during his initial trip to Hogwarts, and the card inside features Albus Dumbledore, the esteemed Headmaster of Hogwarts.

For best results print your frog box on Glossy Premium Heavy Cardstock to prevent food stains (we used 80 lb weight glossy cardstock). It gives a nice professional finish and makes this Honeyduke’s frog box look professionally made!

Materials:

• Glossy Premium Heavy Cardstock (we used 80 lb)
• Beacon 3 in 1 Glue (dries fast with no residue)
• Trim and Score Board
• Cricut cutting machine (optional)
• Craft Clips
• Scissors
• Chocolate Frogs
• FREE PRINTABLE chocolate frog box template (download at end of tutorial)

How to Make a DIY Chocolate Frogs Box by Step

Below is a short video on How to Make a DIY Chocolate Frogs Box by Step (written directions are below the video). I love how it turned out! It’s perfect for gifting to friends, classmates, studens or teachers. It could also be a cute party favor for almost any age.

STEP ONE- Print Out The Frog Box & Trim to Size

Download and print out our cute, Harry Potter frog box onto Glossy Premium Heavy Cardstock (we used 80 lb weight glossy cardstock). Glossy cardstock is ideal for anything that will be touching food so that it resists the oils and food stains. If you don’t have glossy cardstock you can use regular cardstock and line the inside of the box with wax paper or parchment paper.

There is also the option of using our FREE Frog Box Cricut SVG cut files to do a “print and cut” in Cricut Design Space. With also provide you with scoring files. It’s pretty easy to cut them with scissors but it’s awful time consuming, especially if you need to make a lot of these for a party favor.

STEP TWO- Fold the Top of the Frog Box

Use our included folding guide to help determine which lines need to be scored and folded. If I’m not using a cricut, I personally like to use a Trim and Score Board with included bone folder to make perfect, straight folds every time.

The yellow dashed lines on the folding guide represent the areas that need to be folded. When the box is folded add a Craft Clip to hold everything in place while you apply Beacon 3 in 1 Glue (dries fast with no residue) and wait for the glue to dry. When it’s all done it should look like the image below

STEP THREE- Fold the Top of the Frog Box

Use our included folding guide to help determine which lines need to be scored and folded on the bottom of the box. The yellow dashed lines on the folding guide represent the areas that need to be folded. When the box is completely folded add a Craft Clip to hold everything in place while you glue with Beacon 3 in 1 Glue and wait for the glue to dry. When it’s all done it should look like the image below

STEP FOUR- Glue the Top and Bottom of the Frog Box Together

Use our included guide to identify the tabs requiring glue. Glue tabs are indicated in light blue on our guide. When glued together the two halves will form a clamshell box. Look for the tab that needs glue and apply Beacon 3 in 1 Glue. Add a Craft Clip to hold everything in place while you glue and wait for the glue to dry.

STEP FIVE- Make the Chocolate Frogs
