This week, we’re going into a summer state of mind! If you’ve been on Pinterest lately then you might have seen the mermaid trend. There are mermaid parties, mermaid cupcakes, mermaid costumes, mermaid punch and pretty much mermaid everything!
All this mermaid business may be due to Disney releasing a new live action version of The Little Mermaid in the next few years. I don’t know fully what’s driving it but I’m loving all the colors and glitter associated with it! I love the purples, teals and greens I’m seeing in this trend and I bet you will too!
So in summary, my inspiration for this week’s stickers is everything mermaid! My first sheet is a sweet little mermaid themed water drinking habit tracker. You can’t be a mermaid without water right? There are 40 stickers on page one. Let’s check them out…Note! Variation in color occurs from one printer to another. Your mermaid planner stickers may vary slightly from mine!

Okay, now I’m going to show you how to print these stickers out at home. You will need to purchase printable sticker paper if you don’t already have some on hand.
Clear Glossy Printable Sticker Paper
White Glossy Printable Sticker Paper
Highly Recommended- Fiskars Straight Line Paper Cutter
Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife or Scissors
Optional- 1.5 x2.4 “Classic” Box Punch
Being the free printable junkie that I am I have tested several sticker papers that I can wholly recommend for these stickers. Let me tell you, I’ve tested a lot of cheap, crappy sticker paper in my time and I’ve found only two that deserve my trust.
There are several cheapy brands out there but the problems with them are numerous. I’ve experienced massive paper jams, papers labeled as “clear” but they are actually not, smudged ink that never seems to dry and sticker paper that doesn’t even stick!!! What tha’ heck! Hey sticker paper….you had one job to do (be a sticker) and you couldn’t even do that!!?!?
Let me save you the hassle and point you to two different types of great sticker paper. One is this Clear Glossy Printable Sticker Paper which actually is CLEAR. Not kinda clear….but actually clear. This paper is great for printing out stickers for layering purposes. As an example, maybe you want to put a hat and a scarf on an existing dog sticker…this would be a good application of clear sticker paper.
Another tested and trusted paper is this Glossy White Printable Sticker Paper if you want a white, opaque sticker. Maybe you’ve noticed that both of these sticker papers are *glossy* (and this is for good reason). Glossy sticker papers print more true to color whereas matte (non-glossy) sticker papers absorb a ton of ink and the colors can look faded and pixelated. Yuck…nobody wants that!
If you’re a part of the Happy Planner movement you are probably accustomed to using both clear and white stickers in the sticker books. I have a tendency to prefer clear sticker paper because it doesn’t interfere with the grids and lines of my planner in any way. It’s super flexible for planner decorating. It’s really a personal preference….sometimes you want to cover things up and sometimes you don’t!
It’s important to note that these PDF stickers need to be printed out on an inkjet printer! DO NOT USE A LASER JET PRINTER! Laser jet printers use high heat and may melt the clear printable sticker paper (which are made mostly of plastic). Although the white printable sticker paper is not made of as much plastic it may also melt! Most at home printers are ink jet so this probably won’t be a problem…but double check to make sure!
You’ll also need to adjust the paper settings on you printer before printing. After pressing the print button go to the setting area. Look at the paper options and choose something along the lines of “matte photo paper” or “other photo paper”. There isn’t a sticker or label printing setting on my computer but if that’s available then choose that (I don’t have that on my software).
You’ll need to pick a thicker paper setting so that your printer accounts for this thick paper. It will also be sent a message that it’s printing something high quality and will print the stickers as such.
Obviously you can use plain old scissors to cut out any of these stickers. BUT if you’re OCD like me and want nice, straight lines I highly recommend that you use a straight line paper cutter. They are pretty inexpensive and they really make the difference when cutting the washi tape strips and rectangle shaped day stickers. This really inexpensive Fiskars model is highly rated on Amazon.
One other option is to use the “classic” style box punch for the rectangular stickers. You can also use the box punch for pictures or cutting out scrapbook paper…so if you decide to invest in one there are some pretty cool applications for them beyond cutting out printable stickers.
First, let me say that I use a ton of ink for my business and for crafting (I’m looking at you Cricut print and cut projects). I used to be very cautious of what I print because of the CRAZY expensive cost of printer ink.
That was until I found a company on Amazon that will provide triple the ink for less than half the cost of original manufacturer’s ink. That’s like getting a ton of FREE INK! The company is called EZ Ink on Amazon and if you want to see if they carry your brand click here to search for your printer cartridges at the top of the page.
I was skeptical at first (even after reading TONS of these 4 & 5 star reviews (which you can read for yourself here) but I’ve been using the ink for a year now and there is no difference in print quality or color.
I’m not a representative of this company by any means…I’m just trying to help a fellow crafting/printable addict save a little money. I only talk about products that I use and believe in. If they can save some serious bucks it’s even better. So check them out HERE and see if they can save you some money!
I hope you love these super cute, free mermaid planner stickers as much as I do! Please leave me a comment below and let me know what you think so I can tailor future content! Tell me what colors, images or quotes you’d like to see in a future set of printable stickers. There’s a good chance I’ll find a way to fit it in!
