How to Make Christmas Trees Brownies Step by Step!
With a prep time of 20 minutes, this the perfect last minute festive dessert. The hardest part of this recipe is being patient enough not to eat them all! The number of servings may vary depending on the size pan. I used a 9 x 13-inch pan for this recipe, and was able to make 20 holiday trees.
EASY Christmas Tree Brownies
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 20 Servings
Prepared Brownies (Homemade or Box Mix)
Mini Peppermint Candy Canes
Your Favorite Buttercream Frosting or Store Bought Frosting
Green Gel Food Coloring
Christmas Sprinkles
How to Make Christmas Tree Brownies Step By Step
STEP ONE – Make Brownies
Use your favorite brownie recipe (I personally like this one bowl brownie recipe for it’s ease & simplicity) or use a store bought brownie mix (don’t worry, we won’t tell!). Bake in a 9 x 13 pan per instructions.
STEP TWO – Cut the Brownies into Triangles
First, cut the 9 x 13 in half lengthwise (longest side) and then cut each half into 10 triangles. Try to make them as even as possible. The bottom of each tree should be about 2 inches.
STEP THREE – Color the Frosting
Prepare your favorite frosting recipe. I personally love making my own cream cheese frosting but you can use a nice vanilla buttercream or anything you like. You can even grab a tub of store bought frosting (again,,,we won’t tell!). Add the frosting into a bowl and add a few drops of green gel food coloring until you get the perfect Christmas tree green color is achieved.
STEP FOUR – Frost the Brownies
Grab a frosting bag and add a petal piping tip. Add the green frosting to the piping bag, and then start piping the frosting onto the brownies. Start by making a row at the base of the tree and work your way up. Use an up and down or zig zag motion while piping.
If you don’t have piping bags/piping suppies you can snip of the corner of a Ziploc bag and use that to pipe the frosting.
STEP FIVE – Add Sprinkles
Once the frosting has been added, sprinkle the sprinkles on top of each brownie.
STEP SIX -Add the Peppermint Candy Canes
Break the curved ends of the miniature candy canes off and set aside. Insert the straight pieces into the base of the Christmas tree to make the trunk. Serve and enjoy!
Brownie Tree Pro-tips:
- Don’t be like me…add the peppermint candy canes before you decorate! Doing this first ensures you don’t slip and mess up the frosting in the process of inserting the candy cane.
- Get the whole family involved in the brownie decorating process. It’s a great family activity you can do together!
