What is a Halloween Dessert Board?
Unlike a singular dessert, a Halloween dessert charcuterie board board fuses diverse textures, flavors, and colors into a cohesive feast for the eyes (and stomach). It combines multiple desserts (like cookies, wafers, brownies, marshmallows and candy) and a sweet dip to dunk them in. It’s a centerpiece, a work of art and can tie a party theme together. While it looks complicated, it’s mostly store bought ingredients that are assembled beautifully. The dessert board bridges the gap between a Halloween snack board and a Halloween candy board. This feast for the eyes promises to be the showstopper at your Halloween soiree.

How to Make this Halloween Frosting Board Step by Step:
STEP ONE – Make The Frosted Face
Using a pastry bag fitted with a basic pipping tip (or a ziploc with one corner cut off) you can free hand the outline of Jack Skellington’s face using a round object (like a party plate) to guide you. Fill it in till you reach the center and then smooth with an offset icing knife. For a REALLY smooth face dip your offset frosting knife into a glass of room temp water and then smooth the icing out.
You can easily download a template of Jack’s face from google images to help. If you go the template route, simply cut out the template and place a sheet of parchment paper or wax paper over the face to use as a guide as you pipe. You could also use the template to cut out parchment or wax paper shapes to use as an outline for his facial features.
STEP TWO – Add the Eyes Nose & Mouth
Using a Wilton Sparkle Gel Frosting Pen, outline and fill in Jack’s eyes, nose and smile.
STEP THREE – Add Large Cookies, Brownies & Little Debbie Cakes
The secret to a showstopping dessert charcuterie is having lots of variety and different sizes of sweet treats (extra small, small, medium and large). Start with larger sweets, cookies and candy and then work your way down in size as you add items and fill in all spaces the board or serving tray.
Here’s what we did! First, add Little Debbie Fudge Rounds to the top right and bottom left corners of your charcuterie board. Add mini fudge brownie bites in the top left and bottom right corners. Add in the larger fudge stripe cookies.
STEP FOUR – Add Medium & Small Sized Cookies, Pretzels, and Candy
Fill in all extra empty spaces with medium sized and then smaller sized cookies, chocolate, licorice wheels, gummy pumpkins and mini marshmallows. Again we’re working our way down in size for each item…save the smallest candies and sweets for last. Fill in all the spaces as best you can.
STEP FIVE – Finish with Gummy Worms & Enjoy!
Sprinkle a handful of gummy worms here and there to add a pop of color. You can choose gummies that have your favorite colors or that match your Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween party theme. Cover tightly with saran wrap until ready to enjoy! You can download and print the full recipe at the end of this post!
