You’ll want make your red white and blue Jello shots recipe in one ounce, clear shot glasses. Clear shot glasses are best so you can see the red, white and blue layers. You can elevate this patriotic jello shot with a bright red maraschino cherry, whipped cream, colorful sprinkles or even a little puff of store bought cotton candy.

This Red White and Blue Frozen Drink doesn’t HAVE to be red, white and blue. You can make the colors different by using different colored mixer beverages. We used rum in our patriotic jello shot recipe but you can use vodka, flavored alcohols or any clear, hard alcohol. Just make equal substitutions to ours. Personally I think rum is smoother than vodka and doesn’t have the vodka “bite”. Rum can be dangerous because it’s hard to detect and you can over do it more easily!

EASY Red White and Blue Layered Jello Shots (Alcoholic)
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 40-50 1 Oz Jello Shots
Chill Time: 6-8 hours
INGREDIENTS:
Blue Layer (Bottom):
- 1 box of blue Jell-O (such as berry blue)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup rum (or vodka)
White Layer (Middle):
- 2 packets of unflavored gelatin
- ½ cup cold water (for activating the gelatin)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (to whiten the shots)
Red Layer (Top):
- 1 box of red Jell-O (such as cherry or strawberry)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup rum (or vodka)
Maraschino Cherries (optional)
Whipped Cream (optional)
Red, White and Blue Sprinkles (optional)
Pre-made Cotton Candy (optional)
1 Ounce Disposable Shot Glasses

How to Make Red White and Blue Jello Shots Step by Step!

1. Make the Blue Jello Layer
Mix the berry blue jello in 1 cup of boiling water until completely dissolved. Then mix in ½ cup rum (or vodka) and ½ cup cold water. This will kick off the gelatin activation. Pour the berry blue jello mixture into 1 ounce disposable shot glasses, filling each 1/3 full. Place on a cookie sheet in the refrigerator to set, about 2-3 hours

2. Make the White Jello Layer
When the blue layer has completely set up with can work on the white layer. To make the white jello layer we have to use clear, unflavored gelatin which we’ll add sweetened condensed milk to in order to make it white. This layer won’t have any alcohol in it but it will be a sweet center to the shot.
First, sprinkle 2 packets of unflavored gelatin over ½ cup of cold water. Let that sit for a few minutes to fully activate. Add 1 cup boiling water and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Then stir in the sweetened condensed milk until completely mixed. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Make sure the blue berry jello layer is fully set then gently pour the white gelatin mixture over the blue layer. Again, fill another third of the shot glass with the white jello. Return the shot glasses to the refrigerator and let set for another 2-3 hours.

3. Make the Red Jello Layer
Mix the cherry or strawberry jello in 1 cup of boiling water until completely dissolved. Then mix in ½ cup rum (or vodka) and ½ cup cold water. This will kick off the gelatin activation. Pour thecherry or strawberry jello mixture on top of the white jello layer, completing the red white and blue jello shot. Place back on to a cookie sheet in the refrigerator to set, about 2-3 hours

4. Assemble Your Red White and Blue Patriotic Jello Shots!
When you’re ready to serve your jello shots add a dollop of whipped cream, Red, White and Blue Sprinkles or top with a marachino cherry! You can get creative and add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or even a little puff of store bought cotton candy
