Crochet Flower Pattern Instructions
We’ll show you step by step how to make a simple crochet daisy flower with an optional leaf. This pattern is ideal for beginners. We used pink, purple, white & yellow yarn from our stash. We kept the center yellow for a consistent look across all the flowers we made.
List of Supplies
- Pink, Purple, White & Yellow Yarn
- 4.22 mm Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle

Stitches used for this project
- Chain – CH
- Magic Ring – MR
- Half Double Crochet – HDC
- Double Crochet – DC
- Single Crochet – SC
- Treble Crochet – TC
- Slip Stitch – SL St
Step 1:
Make a magic ring.
Step 2:
Chain 3 into the magic ring (chain 3 counts as a 1 DC).
Step 3:
Work 14 DC into the magic ring.
Step 4:
Make a slip stitch into the 3rd chain
Step 5:
Now work 3 chains (chain 3 counts as a DC) and 1 DC into the same space.
Step 6:
Work 2 DC into each stitch for this round. End this round with a slip-stitch. This round will have a total of 30 DCs.
Step 7:
Chain 3 and work 1 DC into the same space.
Step 8:
2 DC into the next two spaces (1 DC in each space)
Step 9:
Repeat this pattern (1 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC) until you reach the first stitch of this round. Lastly, make a slip stitch.
Step 10:
Cut the yarn and sew it at the backside of the pattern. This is the center of the flower.
Step 11:
Take a bundle of new yarn for the petal part and insert it through any outer stitch of the center pattern. Chain 1.
Step 12:
Work 1 HDC into the next space (1st).
Step 13:
Work 2 DC into the next space (2nd).
Step 14:
Work 2 TC into the next space (3rd)
Step 15:
Now, work 2 DC into the next space, and 1 HDC into the next space.
Step 16:
Make a slip stitch into the next space.
Step 17:
Repeat this pattern around (1 HDC, 2 DC, 2 TC, 2 DC, 1 HDC, Sl St) Finish this round with 5 petals.
Step 18:
Work 1 SC into the next space.

Step 19:
Work 1 HDC into the next space.
Step 20:
2 DC into the next 4 spaces (2 DC in each space).
Step 21:
Now work 1 HDC into the next space and 1 SC into the next space, again make a slip stitch into the next space.
Step 22:
Repeat this pattern (1 SC, 1 HDC, 2 DC, 2 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC, Sl St).
Step 23:
Skip 1 stitch then work 1 SC.
Step 24:
Work 2 SC into the next 8 spaces (2 SC in each space).
Step 25:
Work 1 SC into the next space.
Step 26:
Skip 1 space then make a slip stitch.
Step 27:
Repeat this pattern (skip 1 stitch, 1 SC, 2 SC into the next 8 spaces (2 SC in each space), 1 SC, skip 1 stitch, Sl St).
Step 28:
Cut the yarn then sew it at the backside of the pattern. If you would like to make the optional leaves for your flower please see the next page.
Optional Crochet Leaf Instructions:
Step 1:
Take a green yarn bundle and start with a slip knot.
Step 2:
Chain 14.
Step 3:
Skip the first chain and work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 4 TC (1 in each space), 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC, and Sl St.
Step 4:
Repeat the pattern from step 3 on the other side of the base chain stitch to complete the leaf. Attach the crochet leaf to the crochet flower with glue or by hand stitching it.
