As a fellow fan of all things back to school, I’m thrilled to share this brand-new free printable that’ll make your back-to-school prep a breeze. I’m talking about back to school pennant flags! This fun collection of ten different designs are versatile, vibrant, and ready to add a pop to classrooms!

First off, they’re designed with both parents and teachers in mind. If you’re a parent, imagine the adorable first day of school photos you’ll capture with your little one holding a charming “First Day of School” or “I’m Here for The Recess” pennant flag. When the last day rolls around, you can swap it out for a “Last Day of School!” flag to perfectly bookend the school year! These flags are the ideal photo prop to create lasting memories of every academic milestone.

For my amazing teacher friends, these pennant flags are a game-changer for your classroom decor. Forget scouring the aisles for expensive banners that don’t fit your style. You’ve got ten different designs right at your fingertips. You can use them to decorate a bulletin board, string them across the front of your desk, or even create a fun “Welcome Back” display above your doorway. Stick a flag in your pencil cup or give one to each student as they come in!
These are fantastic free classroom decorations that will instantly brighten up any learning environment. Plus, they add a touch of warmth and personality that makes a classroom feel truly inviting.

And the best part? These are free printable classroom decor! All you need is a printer, some cardstock (works best for durability!), pretty ribbon and a pair of scissors. You can even laminate them to make them last longer… especially if you’re planning on using them year after year. Imagine having a ready-to-go set of vibrant decorations that you can pull out every August, saving you time and money.

While these pennant flags are undeniably cute and serve as fantastic free first day of school decorations, they’re more than just pretty paper. They’re a simple way to create excitement and a sense of occasion around the start of a new school year.
For kids, seeing colorful decorations can make the transition back to school feel less daunting and more like a fun adventure. For teachers, a beautifully decorated classroom sets a positive tone and shows students that their learning space is a fun space for creativity.
And let’s be honest, as parents, anything that makes those first-day photos even more memorable is a win! These flags provide a focal point, a little extra something that elevates a simple snapshot into a cherished keepsake. They’re part of creating those little traditions that kids will look back on fondly. We’ve even included a “Last Day of School” flag so you can capture how your kiddo has grown over one school year!
