I made these for Christmas food gifts- I just placed them in clear cello bags and tied them with a ribbon and included a FREE printable gift tag from our printables library.

You can use your own hot cocoa mix recipe OR save time and use store bought hot cocoa mix envelopes that make perfect portions. We used chocolate almond bark in our Christmas Hot Chocolate Bombs Recipe but you could also use white chocolate almond bark as a variation or option.

Consider adding a pinch of sea salt to balance the sweetness, or incorporating different holiday sprinkles for extra pizazz. Once you understand the basic steps- the possibilities are endless. Enjoy the process of experimenting and creating!

EASY Christmas Hot Chococolate Bombs Recipe
Prep Time: 40 minutes
Chill Time: 50 minutes
Makes: 6 hot cocoa bombs
INGREDIENTS:
24 oz. chocolate almond bark
6 packets of instant hot chocolate mix
1 cup mini marshmallows
Red paper straws, cut in half
6 paper bathroom style cups
Scotch Tape
Scissors
Other Helpful Tools:
Cookie Sheet
Parchment Paper
How to Make Hot Chocolate Bombs Step by Step!

1. Prepare the paper cups & straws
Using a pair of scissors, cut a slit down the side of 6 cups. Re-secure the edges of the cut with a piece or two of scotch tape. This will make removing the bombs from the cups easier. Place the cups on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Take 3 paper straws and cut them in half with scissors.

2. Melt the chocolate
Add the chocolate almond bark to a microwave-safe bowl. Place in a microwave, heating in 30-second intervals and stiring until the chocolate is fully melted.

3. Coat the paper cups
With a spoon, apply a layer of the melted chocolate to the inside of the paper cups. Use the back of the spoon to spread the chocolate evenly, making sure to add a little extra to the bottom for support that we’ll need in the next step.

4. Place the straw
Place the chocolate lined cups in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set. Apply a second layer of chocolate to the inside of the cups to fully coat them. Press half of a straw into the center of each cup. Move the cups to the refrigerator to chill for 10 more minutes.

5. Add the hot cocoa
Once the chocolate is solid, fill each cup with one serving of hot chocolate mix, leaving a small space at the top. Each cup will hold a bit less than one packet of mix.

6. Cap with melted chocolate
Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate on top of the hot chocolate mix.

7. Decorate with marshmallows & sprinkles
Gently press a few mini marshmallows into the chocolate on top. Drizzle a little more melted chocolate over the marshmallows with a fork (to get a drizzled effect) and add sprinkles into the chocolate drizzle. You can use a piping bag for more accurate chocolate drizzle.
Put the cups back in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to fully set. Once the chocolate is completely set, remove the tape and carefully peel the paper cups away from the bomb.
Your treats are now ready to enjoy. If you have any leftover chocolate bark (it can be re-melted), you can drizzle it over the sides of the cups and add more sprinkles if you like.

Christmas Hot Chocolate Bombs EASY Recipe
Make EASY hot cocoa bombs for holiday movie night, bake sales and DIY gifts!
Ingredients
- 24 oz. chocolate almond bark
- 6 packets of instant hot chocolate mix
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 3 tbsp. Christmas sprinkles
- 3 red paper straws, cut in half
- 6 small bathroom style paper cups
- Scotch Tape
Instructions
Start by cutting a slit into one side of your cups. Use a piece of tape to connect both sides of the slit.
Add the almond bark to a microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring between each cycle until melted.
Take a spoon, and coat the inside of the paper cups with melted chocolate. Use the back of the spoon to smooth it out evenly, and add a little extra chocolate to the bottoms of the cups for stability. Move these to the refrigerator to chill for 10 minutes.
Repeat this again, adding another layer of chocolate to coat the inside of the cups. Press a straw halve into the middle of each cup. Move the cups to the refrigerator to chill for 10 more minutes.
Once the chocolate sets, add a serving of hot chocolate mix to each cup, it will hold a little less than one pack. Leave a little space at the top to add more chocolate.
Spoon a bit more chocolate into the top of the cups over the hot chocolate mix. Press some mini marshmallows into the chocolate on top. Use a fork to drizzle chocolate over the marshmallows.
Add a few more marshmallows, and sprinkle with sprinkles. Move the cups to the refrigerator for 20 minutes to set.
Once the chocolate has set, remove the tape and peel the paper cups away from the chocolate.
Enjoy, or if desired, use any remaining melted chocolate (chocolate bark can be re-melted), to drizzle over the front of the cups. Sprinkle with more sprinkles.
Notes
Use a parchment lined baking sheet to make clean up and moving the bombs in and out of the fridge a bit easier.
