How To Make Christmas Tree Cakes

STEP ONE: Make the Cake
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a cookie sheet (16X11) by spraying it with cooking spray. Lay down the parchment paper and spray the parchment paper.
Add the eggs to a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer. They should be thick and yellow – this will take about 5-6 minutes.
Add the powdered sugar, cake mix, water, and oil and beat on low for 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a scraping spatula and mix on medium for 1 minute.
Pour the batter into the cookie sheet and spread it out evenly.
Bake for for 10 to 12 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool completely before proceeding.

STEP TWO: Make Frosting
While the cake is cooling down you can prepare the filling. Beat the marshmallow creme, butter, and vanilla using a mixer until smooth. Once smooth, beat in the 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Don’t leave any lumps!

STEP THREE: Cut Out The Christmas Tree Cakes
Now using a 3 or 4 inch Christmas Tree cookie cutter, cut out your trees. Push down all the way and give the cookie cutter a little wiggle to make sure it goes through.

STEP FOUR: Frost the Christmas Tree Cakes
Spoon the filling into a piping bag and pipe it all over the top of a tree and then place a second tree on top of the filling, pressing down gently to push the filling to the edges. Repeat for remaining trees. Place all the frosted trees on to a wax paper lined cookie sheet and freeze for 2 hours or until frozen.

STEP FIVE: Dip the Christmas Tree Cakes
Once trees are frozen, melt your chocolates in a deep bowl per package instructions and then add the coconut oil and stir until combined and smooth.
Dip a tree into the chocolate, making sure to coat the entire cake and then use 2 forks to pull it out and place on a sheet of wax paper. Work quickly to sprinkle with the green sugar sprinkles.

STEP SIX: Decorate with Red Frosting
Once all the trees have fully hardened, cut the tip off of the cookie icing pouch (a small cut, you want a thin line) and drizzle over the cakes with wavy lines just like the original Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes. Add your cakes to a colorful cookie tin and surprise your friends and family with them!

Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Pro Tips:
- If you do not have a piping bag, you can use a zipper bag and cut one of the corners off.
- Using 6 eggs and the powdered sugar makes for a spongier cake
- For thinner layers, use 2 half sheets and divide the batter evenly between them (about 2 ½ cups)
- You can use a chocolate cake mix and chocolate melting chips for the topping for the chocolate cakes.
- For the stripes, hold the pouch about a half inch or so above the cake and pull it across the cake in a wavy design and pull away and stop squeezing at the end.
