How to Make Candy Corn Jello Shots Step by Step!

1. Make the Yellow Jello Layer

Mix the yellow Jello in 1 cup of boiling water until completely dissolved. Then mix in ½ cup rum (or vodka) and ½ cup cold water. This will kick off the gelatin activation. Pour the Jello mixture into 5.5 Ounce Disposable Shot Cups, filling each about 1/3 full. Place on a cookie sheet in the refrigerator to set, about 2-3 hours

2. Make the Orange Jello Layer

When the yellow layer has set, mix the orange Jello in 1 cup of boiling water until completely dissolved. Then mix in ½ cup rum (or vodka) and ½ cup cold water. This will kick off the gelatin activation. Pour the orange Jello mixture onto the fully set yellow layer- filling the rest of the cup. Place on a cookie sheet in the refrigerator to set, about 2-3 hours

3. Add a Swirl, Garnish & Serve!

When the orange layer has fully set you can add a swirl of whipped cream and finish with a candy corn, sprinkles (OR BOTH) on top! If you prefer to make a white layer for the full candy corn effect we have instructions on how to do that below.

Want to Make a White Jello Layer Instead of Whipped Cream?

4. How to Make a White Layer (Optional)

  • 3 ounces of unflavored gelatin
  • ½ cup cold water (for activating the gelatin)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (to whiten the shots)

If you are going to do a white layer instead of the whipped cream you need to make sure that you leave room for a white layer on top of the Jello shot.

When the orange layer has completely set up we can work on the white layer. To make the white jello layer we have to use clear, unflavored gelatin which we’ll add sweetened condensed milk to in order to make it white. This layer won’t have any alcohol in it but it will be a sweet center to the shot.

First, sprinkle 2 packets of unflavored gelatin over ½ cup of cold water. Let that sit for a few minutes to fully activate. Add 1 cup boiling water and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Then stir in the sweetened condensed milk until completely mixed. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

Make sure the orange jello layer is fully set then gently pour the white gelatin mixture over the blue layer. Again, fill another third of the shot glass with the white jello. Return the shot glasses to the refrigerator and let set for another 2-3 hours.
