This EASY banana pudding recipe makes 6 bags. You can easy double or triple this recipe to make much, MUCH more!
We used vanilla pudding in our recipe (for a mild banana flavor) but if you want to really pack a banana punch you can use banana pudding. Personally I think vanilla appeals to more people and has a nice banana flavor without overwhelming the recipe.
You can make ahead some of the components (like the pudding), but I’d wait until you’re ready to eat to fully assemble because the nilla wafers can get soggy if you let them sit for too long.

How to Make Walking Banana Pudding Step by Step!

1. Make the Instant Pudding
Open your Mini Nilla Wafer Snack Packs and fold over the top of the bag like you see in our photos (this will help the bag stay open and not get in the way as you eat). You can place them in Taco Holders so they’ll stay upright while you assemble. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the Instant Pudding Mix and milk. Stir until smooth. Move the pudding to the refrigerator for 5 minutes to chill and fully set up.

2. Slice the Bananas
While you’re waiting for the pudding to set, peel 2 of the bananas and slice, dividing the slices equally among the nilla snack packs.

3. Add Pudding
Once pudding has fully set, divide it equally among the nilla wafer snack packs.

4. Add More Bananas & Toppings
Slice the last banana and add slices to the top of the pudding layer. Top with whipped cream and garnish with an extra banana slice and nilla wafer. Add a maraschino cherry too if you want to take it up another notch! Place a spoon in each bag and enjoy!
PRO-TIP: Making your own homemade whipped cream is pretty easy if you want to tackle it! Add 1/2 cup heavy cream and 2 Tbsp powdered sugar to your stand mixer with a whisk attachment. Whisk beat the mixture until stiff peaks form. You can also whisk by hand or use a hand mixer.
