This is one of my favorite recipes because it is so easy but so pretty! You can add these to a large bowl of popcorn or homemade Chex Mix and enjoy these pretzel bites as a tasty treat ANYTIME! Make sure you use the Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels and not traditional mini pretzels or a pretzel rod…they just don’t make a good foundation for these cute little bunnies!

Easy Bunny Pretzel Recipe
These cute bunny pretzel Easter treats can be made two ways. You can use Wilton Vanilla Candy Melts like we did OR you can dip your pretzels into white candy bark (or white chocolate chips) that have been melted in a bowl in the microwave. Our Wilton Candy Melts method is less messy but if all you have is white chocolate chips then by all means use them.
If you do use the white chocolate chips- you may want to add a teaspoon of vegetable oil into the melted chocolate so that it is more workable for dipping. We have detailed instructions for white chocolate chips and almond bark near the end of this post.
Makes: About 35 white chocolate covered pretzels
Assembly Time: 20 min | Oven Time: 3-5 minutes
Recipe Ingredients:
Vanilla Candy Melts (10 ounce bag)
M&M Candies in a Multicolor Easter Pack (10 ounce bag)
Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels (pretzel squares)
Parchment Paper or Aluminum Foil (optional)
Food Grade Cello Bags (optional)
Colorful Ribbon (optional)
Sharp Knife
This salty and sweet recipe makes the perfect last minute dessert or finger food for parties, movie nights, church functions and potlucks. Busy moms and professionals will love this love this recipe because there is very little prep work, and assembly is fun and it doesn’t take a lot of time.
How to Make Pretzel Bunnies Step by Step

Step 1: Preheat Oven to 250 Degrees Place Pretzels on Baking Sheet
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Spread out all of your Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels onto a parchment lined Non Stick Cookie Sheet in a single layer. Place a single Vanilla Candy Melt onto each pretzel. Set aside while you work on pre-arranging the bunny face with m&m’s.
Pro-tip! If you’re the only person assembling your bunny pretzels you should only put a few pretzels with melts in the oven at a time. As soon as they come out of the oven the white chocolate hardens fairly quickly. It takes some time to arrange the m&m’s to make a bunny face so plan accordingly.

Step 2: Pre-arrange All the M&M’s in Advance
Before you put your Vanilla Candy Melt + Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels in the oven to melt you should arrange ALL of your M&M Candy bunnies in advance so they are ready to quickly go onto the white chocolate candy melts.
To make the bunny ears you’ll need cut a single m&m in half with a sharp knife. Again, you’ll want to arrange all of the bunny faces before you ever put the pretzels+candy melts in the oven.
Some color combinations look better than others. You can look over what I did for inspiration. One bag of M&M’s I purchased had 70% yellow candies for crying out loud! So you’ll want to work this all out before you actually melt the chocolate.

Step 3: Place Pretzel + Candy Melt in the Oven
Place the Vanilla Candy Melt + Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels in the oven at 250 degrees for about 3-5 minutes. The candy melts will melt quickly..so keep an eye on them at all times. A test run of just a few Vanilla Candy Melt + Lattice Buttersnap Pretzels may be in order to get the timing right.
You want the candy melts slightly melted but not completely melted. The candy melt should stick to the pretzel and have a shiny, almost oil like sheen to them when they are ready. Again, you don’t want to completely melt the candy through the pretzel or the M&M’s won’t have enough ‘glue’ to stick to the pretzel.
Start by placing the bunny face at the center of the pretzel and press lightly to make it stick to the white chocolate. Then the two m&m halves (bunny ears) just above the bunny face.
After you’ve placed the M&Ms, transfer to a Cooling Rack so the heat is off of them completely and the melting process stops. Allow the melted white chocolate to set and come to room temperature before enjoying. Keep them in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
No Bake Microwave Method
If you don’t have an oven or you’re worried about potentially overheating and totally melting the candy melts, there is a work around.
Simply melt a heaping handful of Vanilla Candy Melt in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave for 30 second increments. Stir in between each 30 second cycle. Do this until melted. Use a spoon to add a dab of this melted candy to the top of each pretzel. This will act as “glue” to attach the M&M’s to the buttersnap pretzel. This work around skips the oven entirely for a no bake, quick & easy treat!
White Chocolate Chips Method
If all you have on hand is White Chocolate Chips (or milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips) you can still create this easy treat! Grab a microwave safe bowl and add a heaping handful of chocolate chips to it. Microwave for 30 seconds then add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil or coconut oil and mix to combine. Continue with 30-second increments until melted.
Use a spoon to add a dab of this melted candy to the top of each pretzel. This will act as “glue” to attach the M&M’s to the buttersnap pretzel. Place the pretzel bite on a piece of parchment paper, wax paper or aluminum foil until the chocolate hardens.
Almond Bark Method
If all you have on hand is almond bark, that’ll work for this salty treat! Grab a large mixing bowl that is microwave safe. Add a few blocks of almond bark to the bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals mixing in between each interval until melted.
Use a spoon to add a dab of almond bark to the top of each pretzel and shake of excess chocolate. This will act as “glue” to attach the M&M’s to the buttersnap pretzel. Place the pretzel bite on a piece of parchment paper, wax paper or aluminum foil until the chocolate hardens.
Hershey’s Hug or Hershey Kisses Method
You can also use Hershey’s Hug or Hershey Kisses in place of melted chocolate for these yummy treats. The best way to do this is with your oven. So follow our oven based instructions from the beginning of this post and use a Hershey hug or a kiss in place of the Wilton Candy Melts.
I hope you enjoyed learning how to make these cute Pretzel bunnies! Those salty pretzels, white chocolate and M&M’s are the perfect combination. You can easily double batch, triple batch or quadruple batch this recipe for a big batch that feeds larger crowds, bake sales, classroom parties and potlucks.
